CASE: Chronic PE
EXAM QUALITY:
HIGH
- Can clearly see to the proximal subsegmental level
- ROI on main PA = 331 HU. (ROI > 300 HU is often high quality if no/minimal limitation.)
- LIMITATIONS: None
PE FINDINGS:
CHRONIC PE, right-sided
- RLL lobar level (also see on coronal)
- Thin web-like filling defect is a chronic PE feature
- It is important to look at prior exam to see if present previously. This has decreased since prior CT PE exam performed 3 months earlier (image below):

ANCILLARY FINDINGS:
No sign of RV strain.
IMPRESSION:
Chronic right-sided pulmonary embolism most proximally involving the lobar level in the right lower lobe. No sign of right ventricular strain. RV/LV ratio is < 1, normal.
